Some iPhone 16 users are experiencing a bug that causes random reboots, according to complaints posted on Reddit, MacRumors forums, and Apple Support communities. Affected devices freeze unpredictably before rebooting. Reports first surfaced when the iPhone 16 models were released in September, and the issues persist this week. Neither the iOS 18.0.1 nor iOS 18.1 update fixed the issue, which continues to affect users even after installing the latest software updates.
The issue appears to occur randomly. The screen stops responding or reacts very slowly to touch commands, and then the iPhone quickly reboots. Users have also reported unexpected reboots when the device is in sleep mode.
Some users who contacted Apple shortly after the new iPhones were released received replacement units, but the issue has reappeared. The majority of complaints relate to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models, suggesting that only the Pro models would be affected.
